Jaime Mugaburu - about me
FINE ART CONCEPTUAL STILL LIFE & LIGHT PAINTING PHOTOGRAPHER
ABOUT MY WORK

BACKGROUND AND ARTISTIC JOURNEY
From my earliest experiences with analogue darkroom printing, I understood that an image could be more than a simple record; it could become a process of construction. Although my professional career developed in the field of engineering, photography has remained a constant thread throughout my life, evolving alongside me over the years.
My early training at the Spectrum Canon School in Zaragoza provided the technical and compositional foundations that continue to shape my work today. Later, my active involvement in photographic communities helped refine my personal vision through open exchange and constructive critique among fellow photographers.
THE CREATIVE PROCESS IN THE STUDIO
I work primarily in my studio, where I seek complete control over the scene. Using long exposures and selective lighting with flashlights and small LED sources, I build the volume and form of each image step by step, almost as if sculpting with light.
In recent years, I have focused increasingly on ordinary objects, giving them an unexpected presence within artistic compositions. Through shadow and chiaroscuro, I seek to reveal new visual interpretations, sometimes drawing inspiration from the atmosphere and visual language of classical Baroque painting.
NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL INFLUENCES
My artistic development has been strongly influenced by the teachings of American photographer Harold Ross, an internationally recognised practitioner of light painting whose methods completely transformed my understanding of volume, light and spatial creation. At the same time, my work remains in dialogue with the conceptual precision of Chema Madoz and the quiet poetry of Josef Sudek.
